Kamloops-South Thompson announces Anna Thomas as Candidate for 2020 Provincial Election
Anna Thomas, president of the BC Native Women’s Association and long-time social activist, has been acclaimed as the NDP candidate for Kamloops South Thompson.
“I see myself as a change maker, someone with a passion for helping people, and I think that’s what governing is all about,” said Thomas. “A key lesson from the pandemic has been that people turn to their government to assist them in hard times.
“John Horgan and the BC NDP government have led us well through the first phase of the pandemic. As the recovery continues to unfold, I am confident that the Horgan government will make sure that everyone benefits, not just the people at the top,” she added.
Anna believes that she can speak for all members of the Kamloops South Thompson community, many of whom she says have been left behind by the BC Liberals. She was approached by community members and encouraged to run for office. She feels that her commitment to social justice and economic equality are what she’s seen with the Horgan NDP government over the last three years, and she is excited about the opportunity and challenge of serving as the MLA for this constituency.
